Moving email domain from Smartemail 7.x to current

Is it still necessary to run a conversion tool in order to move an email domain from an older Smartermail 7.x server to a newer version of Smartermail on a different server?

We used to do this, and tried it last night with a migration but it created an extra Mail folder (so, 2 inboxes), so we had to revert back until we can find out more.

Hi Nathalie!

The conversion tool would be used for any SmarterMail release after 7. If you were on 7.5 or higher, a conversion is not required from what I understand. It should only be used when SmarterMail doesn’t move the items from the older version as expected. It's possible that things were duplicated because the conversion utility was not required? Did you try the migration without the conversion tool? What version did you migrate?
