I often used emoticons in my previous email program and cannot figure out a way to add them to this one. Is this an area that can be added?

Don, unfortunately I don't think it's possible to add emoji (graphical text icons) using the SmarterMail web client. Alternatives:
1) Use an email client like Thunderbird
2) Copy & Paste the emoji from another source

I just started a new thread for this (sorry, I didn't see your post until just now). Hopefully people will vote it up so ST can add it to their list.
